As the inflow of water into the reservoir was in excess of 8,250 cusex, the senior officials after consultations offered pooja to the reservoir  under the leadership of Assistant Executive Engineer Dharmaraj and opened the four crust gates of the dam thus releasing 4,500 cusecs of water into the Cauvery river.

The maximum level of Harangi reservoir is 2,859 feet while the water level was 2855.15 feet on Sunday July 20. Last year, the water level in Harangi reservoir during the same period was 2856.38 feet.

The officials had even consulted the local farmers and Water Users Association before releasing water from the dam.
