Mandya : In a tragic incident two friends committed suicide here on August 22 at Majjigepura village in Srirangapatna taluk.
The deceased are identified as Jayanti (22) from Kachahalli in Channapatna taluk and Pavitra (22) resident of Hombegowdanadoddi in Ramanagara taluk.
Both of them were close friends and studied together from 8th to graduation.
But recently the parents of Jayanthi had fixed her marriage and the engagement was to be held soon. However, she was not ready to leave her friend after marriage. So both of them took extreme step of committing suicide by jumping into a canal of Krishnaraja Sagar dam near Srirangapatna.
In the death note they have urged family members to cremate them together so that their friendship remains forever.
A case has been registered in K R police station Mysore.
