Kasargod: An accident between a scooter and a car at Nellikunje claimed the lives of three children on Saturday July 19.
The deceased have been identified as 15-year-old Sajaad, son of Sabeer who is a resident of Nellikunje, 10-year-old Mubaris, son of Mohammed and 7-year-old Afrath, son of Afraz.
The boys, who are said to be cousins, were riding a bike when they crashed into the car near Nellikunje junction. The collision was such that all three were literally thrown away on the other side of the road.
Reportedly the scooter was being ridden by Sajaad, without license, with the other two boys riding pillion.
Sajaad lost his life on the spot. The other two boys who were rushed to Kasargod government hospital by the locals passed away sometime later.
The bodies were shifted to the mortuary at Kasargod general hospital for post-mortem.
Accordingly an Iftar party was planned at Sajaad’s house the same evening and all his relatives had visited his place.
Sajaad was asked to buy some groceries and other items for the party’s preparation for which he took the bike along with the cousins riding pillion.
Sajaad’s family resides in the Gulf and had come down to hometown at the beginning of Ramadan. His father returned to Dubai after week and was supposed to come home again for Id-ul-Fitr. Sajaad’s father Sabeer works in Dubai while Afrath’s father works in Saudi Arabia.
Mubaris was a student of fifth standard in a school at Nellikunje, while Afrath was studying in second standard at K S Abdullah English Medium School.
