Hubbali: BJP MP from Dharwad, Pralhad Joshi has urged the Centre to sanction an AIIMS-like premier institute in North Karnataka to cater to the healthcare needs of the backward regions of the State.
He demanded this while participating in a discussion on demands for grants in Health and Family Welfare Ministry in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Joshi said that North Karnataka was one of the most backward areas in the country. He rued the fact that the region lacked good health care facilities. If the Centre sanctioned an AIIMS-like institution there, it would address the healthcare needs of the backward region, he added.
He also demanded the Centre to sanction a full-fledged laboratory for testing HINI diseases in the North Karnataka region.
