Shikaripur: Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Thursday night played the good Samaritan when he directed his escort staff to rescue five members of a family whose car had fallen into a channel.
The driver of the car lost control of it when it was on its way from Shimoga to Shikaripur and fell into the Anjanapura channel near the Esur-Chikkajogihalli cross road. The MP, who was passing by in his vehicle, asked driver Shivu to stop it.
He then asked Shivu, SI Huchappa and other staff in the escort team to rush to the family’s rescue.
Shashi, Veena, Shakuntalamma, Chennabasamma and two-year-old Pranav Vijay were successfully pulled out of the channel into which they had fallen. Yeddyurappa then dropped them at their relatives’ place in Shikaripur.
