Shivamogga: Asha Bhat, who hails from Bhadravathi, made the country proud by winning the title of Miss Supranational 2014 at a beauty pageant held in Poland and becoming the first Indian to clinch the crown since its inception.
“I am ecstatic. It’s an unbelievable feeling and I couldn’t feel more proud. I am happy to have won this title for my country. Now, I am just waiting to come back to my country and meet my family and friends who supported me throughout my journey,” she said in a statement.
Asha, who represented India at the beauty pageant, competed amongst 70 other countries.
Asha looked dazzling in a gown designed by Gavin Miguel and was crowned by Miss Supranational 2014 by Mutya Datul from Philippines at the event happened late Friday night. Asha was also awarded $25000. Earlier in the pageant, the Indian representative also won the title of Miss Talent.
She is the second daughter of Subrahmanya and Shyamala. She is pursuing her final year engineering at R V College in Bengaluru. She finished her primary schooling in Bhadravathi and has learnt music, dance, painting and good in sports too. She was also an NCC cadet and had received gold medal from the president. She also became the leader of top ten cadets. She won Best cadet ambassador award in SAARC. She completed PU education in Moodbidri Alvas college.
