3 die as car plunges off bridge; falls into Shimsha river

Maddur : Three persons lost their lives when the car in which they were travelling rolled into the Shimsha river  near Somanahalli here during the wee hours of Sunday August 3.

The deceased are Anurag (30), son of Sheshayya of Govindarajanagar in Bangalore, Suhas (29) from Rajajinagar and Dayanand Somashekhar (32), son of VS Kumar of Basaveshwaranagar. The mishap took place when they were returning to Bangalore from Mysore at around 5 am.  It is learnt,   the driver of the Innova  car (KA-02 MB 2204)  who was sleepy, hit the car against embankment of the Shimsha bridge. The vehicle eventually rolled into the river from a height of 70 feet.

The local police with the help of Fire Service personnel lifted the car with the help of a crane and retrieved the bodies.

The bodies were later handed over to the families after a post-mortem. A case has been registered in the local police station.
