New delhi: In one of the biggest crackdown on underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government on Tuesday seized assets of Mumbai serial blast mastermind worth up to Rs 15,000 crore, sources said.
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval reportedly pursued the matter with UAE and requested the officials to act and seize Dawood’s property.
According to reports, when PM Modi, accompanied by NSA Doval, visited UAE the issues pertaining to Dawood’s property came up and India provided a confidential list of underworld don’s properties to UAE government.
Dawood is wanted in India for the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai in which 257 people were killed and nearly a thousand injured. He is also accused of masterminding other terror attacks and of money laundering and extortion.
The United States had already designated underworld don Dawood Ibrahim as a global terrorist having links with Al Qaeda and financing activities of Laskhar-e-Tayiba and other terrorist organisations.
