Abu Dhabi: St Joseph’s Konkani Community (SJKC) Abu Dhabi Parish, in preparation for the Nativity Feast to be celebrated on 8th September, started the nine day-novena on 30th August. This is the first time that the novena is being conducted since the SJKC Committee formed in November 2016.
The SJKC Committee brought Rev.Fr. Clifford Fernandes, Professor, St.Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore to celebrate holy mass at 7.30 pm on each day of the Novena, followed by teaching, and ending with the showering of flowers to Mother Mary at the grotto by the children. The joyful children after showering flowers to Mother Mary are receiving sweets every day.
The community members are eager to be present for the mass, teaching and novena since Fr. Clifford, in his message, stressed the need to be good Christians through the word of God. The message explained in simple Konkani is encouraging the community to do good in their day to day walks of life.
The SJKC committee members under the guidance of Spiritual Director Rev. Fr. Rodson Goes and coordinator Mr. Leo Rodrigues have chalked out meticulously all the arrangements for this year’s nativity feast celebrations. Accordingly, the novena that commenced on 30th August will be continued for 9 days until 7th September and the Nativity Feast will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Cathedral on Friday 8th September at 6.45 pm by showering flowers to Mother Mary, followed by Festal high mass and NovenJevann by the Community.
During this occasion, the Konkani Community students who scored more than 75% marks in X and XII Standard during April 2017 exams shall be felicitated. A colorful entertainment program is also organized.
