Ajman: The Body & Soul Elite Health Club & Spa in Ajman Corniche organized a walkathon event at Ajman Marina, Ajman on Saturday, 25th February 2017. Organized to support women empowerment and fitness, the family fun event saw the participation of women and children in large numbers, spreading the message of healthy lifestyles and wellness.
The walkathon included a 4km walk for ladies, 200m race for girlsunder 12 years of age, 200m race for boys under 12 years, corporate team race and special needs race. Winners took home cash prizes and trophies. Participants also won exciting raffle draw prizes, in addition to free ‘walkathon’ t-shirts. Besides the regular races, various fun activities such as aerobics demonstration, spinning, zumba, karate, face painting, family fun and games were also conducted, to make the event a family fun day.
“The Walkathon was organized with the aim to educate society on the need for women empowerment and fitness. Considering the hectic lifestyles of the modern day women who are deprived of the time to even look after their own bodies, we feel that a campaign of this kind drives home the message that women empowerment and fitness can simply not be overlooked. Moreover, this event was planned as a family fun day, to get the message across to a larger audience,” said Mr. Farhad C., Director of the Hospitality Division of Thumbay Group. He added that Thumbay Group was committed to raising awareness on health, wellness and fitness, among the public.
An initiative conceptualized by Thumbay Group founder president Mr. Thumbay Moideen, the event was co-sponsored by Ajman Police, City School, City University College of Ajman and Aafiya TPA Services, and sponsored by Thumbay Group and Thumbay Hospital Ajman.
