Abu Dhabi: India Social and Cultural Centre Abu Dhabi (ISC), the largest socio–cultural organization for the Indian community in the Middle East and Union National Bank, one of the leading banks in the Middle East join hands to host the 4th ISC UNB – U.A.E Open Squash Tournament 2016 at the India Social and Cultural Centre. ISC facilitates excellent facilities to its members including Badminton, Squash, Tennis, Table Tennis, Snooker, Swimming and Gymnasium etc. With a current strength of 2,300 members (8000 including dependants) and with its state -of- the-art building spanning over an area of 100,000 Sq. Ft, India Social & Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi is the largest recreational Centre in the Middle East for the Indian community and enjoys an atmosphere of harmony and goodwill. This premier socio-cultural organization was established in the year 1967. Socio-Cultural activities and Sports have been incessant achievements throughout 49 years of its existence by associating the cultural diversities and traditions of UAE and India, being the main objective. The Centre by its own pride and dignity has always been recognized as a unique platform for all highly reputed Corporates, wherein the association is mutually beneficial.
M Thomas Varghese, the Hon. President of ISC announced the launching of the ISC-UNB- 4th U.A.E Open Squash Tournament 2016. ISC Abu Dhabi had very successfully conducted the tournament in the previous years which received tremendous response and success wherein a high quality of squash games have been played. Taking the momentum forward, ISC Abu Dhabi is now organizing the Open Tournament which would also become a benchmark for such tournaments in the UAE.
The squash section in ISC Abu Dhabi itself has strength of more than 500 members, utilizing the facility on a regular basis. The squash courts in ISC are of International Standards and proud to publicize them as one of the best in the G.C.C. These courts are also used every year for conducting the delegated games of the Abu Dhabi Squash League organized by the Abu Dhabi Squash. This tournament is being conducted with the approval and guidance of UAESRA and Abu Dhabi Squash. We are pleased to announce that this year ISC-UNB- UAE open Squash Tournament has been included in the Professional Squash Associations (PSA) yearly World Tour Calendar.
The tournament will commence from September 30 and will have total prizes worth AED 30,000.00 including cash prizes. The tournament will have 5 categories namely PSA (Professional Squash Association), Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and Ladies Division. The highlight of this privileged tournament is that it is open for all players holding UAE Visa except PSA which is exclusively for international PSA ranked players from six countries. This time we have already received interest of participation from several top ranked players in the UAE to showcase their skills and talents. Hon. Sports Secretary A.M. Nizar said ‘We expect over 150 players to participate in the tournament including the top seeds in the Country’. The main objective of this tournament is to inspire the spirit of the game irrespective of Nationalities and to bring them together as relations at one and only India Social and Cultural Centre. Hon. General Secretary John P. Varghese remarked that the overall participation is expected to reveal a show worthy of excellent skills combined with high endurance levels, with the goal to attain the championship under the roof of ISC, Abu Dhabi. It is a great opportunity for all the squash lovers around U.A.E. to witness this grand sporting event. He also congratulated the Squash Section on their success in accrediting the tournament in the PSA World tour Calendar.
