3rd holy Quran recitation open competition – 2016 finale

Abu Dhabi: In commemoration of the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Holy Quran Recitation Open Competition was conducted by ISC in association with Ministry of AWQAF. The event was inaugurated by H E Ali Al Rumaithy, undersecretary Heritage club on June 20, 2016. This is the 3rd consecutive year that ISC has conducted Holy Quran Recitation Open Competition. The objectives of the competition are to encourage locals and expatriate community in the country to recite, read and memorize the Holy Quran in a competitive environment.
The audition for the selection of the participants was conducted for 3 days and competition was conducted from June 21 to 23, 2016 after the Tharawih prayer from 10 pm, followed by the prize distribution on June 24. This event was open to all nationalities and the entry to attend was free. More than 10 nationalities competed in the event and were well attended every day by sizable audience.

The event was lead by Coordinator Rafeek P Kayanayil, Asst. Co-ordinator, M Mohseen, Rajan M Zachariah, Nizar A M, Shijil Kumar, Jojo Ambookan, Abdul Wahab and A M Baheer.
Bus pick-up & drop-off transportation arrangements from various locations of the city and Prayer facilities were arranged by ISC.
The Competitions were held in following categories:
1. Whole Holy Quran
2. 15 Parts
3. 10 Parts
4. 5 Parts
5. Recitation and Tajweed of whole Holy Quran

The recitations were judged by a panel of judges Approved by the Ministry of Awqaf. The winners in all categories were presented with Mementos, valuable Gifts, Certificates and Cash Awards.

The event was well supported by the Indian and Local business communities, registered and regional associations and has received good feedback from the members of ISC and the Indian Community. The entire contributions received from the well wishers shall be fully earmarked towards humanitarian causes, less prize money and other expenses.

The main event was 30 Juz – Complete of Holy Quran and won by Mohamed Hashem Abdel Ghany, Egyption national, the second prize won by Jabir Hamza P from India and the third prize won by Atif Badreldin Bakhit from Sudan.

The cash prize of Dhs. 10,000, valuable gifts, memento and certificate was given to the winner of this category. The Prize distribution ceremony was attended by Dr Anas Mohammed Qassar, Sheikh Adnan Saadudheen, Sheikh Abdulla Azwa of Awkaf, Dr Fizal Fibin Thaha, John Samuel, Saeed Ibrahim, Managing Committee Members and other distinguished guests.
Photo Exhibition on Late H H Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan was Inauguration by the Dr Anas Mohammed Qassar of Awkaf and attended by distinguished dignitaries.

Hon. General Secretary John P.Varghese welcomed the prize distribution ceremony gathering followed by presidential address by Hon President M Thomas Varghese and the vote of thanks was proposed by Hon. Vice President – Rajan M. Zachariah.
