Gundlupete : Here is a 13 year old boy who through his exemplary act of bravery has saved his two friends from being killed by a leopard at Kundukere village of the taluk.
He is Appu. His two friends Bellayya and Doreswami, both 12 years of age who are injured in the leopard attack are recovering in the hospital.
The three boys from the village had been to play in the Kunnamunti hill area which was about one km away from their homes. They found a bee hive in a bush and decided to have a peek. But to their shock, they found an animal hiding and once again came closer to have a look at it.
At first they thought that it was a boar. But before they could realise anything, the leopard which was amid the bushes pounced on Bellayya. Appu with great presence of mind, picked up a stone found nearby and hit the leopard on its forehead. The angry leopard then let free Bellayya and pounced on Appu who in his bid to escape fell into a ditch.
Later the animal attacked Doreswamy who however was rescued as people around rushed to the spot on hearing their screams. The leopard later vanished in the forest area.
The boys were later rushed to the Gundlupete Government Hospital in a bike.A case has been registered in the local police station.
