Madikeri: The famous Bedu Habba was celebrated with  grandeur and enthusiasm at Chembebellur village of Virajapete taluk on Wednesday April 22.

Villagers converged at a place and celebrated this festival which has been a part of tradition here since ages.  As per history, the Chembukutti tribakls who stayed in the village, used to beg alms to eke out a living. It is said it was owing to this reason that the villagers come together to celebrate this festival on a unified note.

The village has the temples of Goddess Bhadrakali, Eshwari and Parvathi. The festival is celebrated for three days and the uniqueness of the festival is the Huli Vesha, Bandkali and  Pillu Bhootha Veshas.

The Veshadharis dance in front of  houses and on the streets, to the rhythmic beating of drums and then   offer prayers at the temple.
