Newskarnataka – Mysore
Mysore :Principles and ideologies have been pushed to the backseat in present day politics where caste and money power reign supreme, observed Vatal Nagaraj, President of Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Party.
Inaugurating a seminar on “Indian elections-Then and Now” at the Kings Court Hotel Auditorium on Saturday April 12. He said when he first joined politics and became an MLA in 1967, political leaders were treated with much respect and honour. But everything has turned topsy turvy now, he said.
He said good administration cannot be expected at a time when majority of the candidates contesting the elections are crorepathis and over 30 per cent have a criminal background.
Democracy can survive only when the electorate chooses the right candidate, he said.
Continuing, Vatal Nagaraj informed that his party supported H Vishwanath from Mysore and R Dhruvarnaarayan from Chamrajnagar during the upcoming elections. Maddigere Gopal, former district president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Kalegowda Nagavara, writer and other members of the party were present.
