Mysore (DHNS):Even as a section of litterateurs and thinkers in Mysore are against the plans to shift Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada from the city to Bangalore, Women and Child Development Minister Umashree who holds the additional charge of Kannada and Culture department is waiting for a letter of consent from the Central government to go ahead with the plan.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the divisional level meeting here on Friday, Umashree defended the decision to shift the centre, currently functioning on the premises of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) here, to Bangalore University campus.
She substantiated that the varsity has extensive facilities like library and study materials to carry out the research for the further development of the language. A letter has been written to the Centre in this regard, and the reply was awaited, Umashree added.
