Mysore: Dr BR Ambedkar strongly believed that social justice and equality could be achieved by abolishing the caste system, said eminent historian Prof. S Chandrashekhar.
Delivering a special lecture at the new auditorium of the Kuvempu Kannada Study Centre of Manasa Gangotri in Mysore on April 14, Monday as part of the 123rd birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, Chandrashekhar spoke on the India of the dreams of Ambedkar.
Continuing, he said Ambedkar strongly believed that India can attain freedom in the true sense when equality is achieved. Prof. Chandrashekhar further said Ambedkar was of the strong view that farmers and working class were the backbones of India who can help the nation achieve equality.
Ambedkar who had full knowledge about capitalists had single- handedly fought against them, he said.
Prof. KS Rangappa, Vice Chancellor. Dr Mogalli Ganesh, thinker, Dr S Narendra Kumar, Co-ordinator of Dr BR Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre, Dr KB Umesh, Registrar of SC ST Cell of the University and others were present.
