Mangalore : Even as works of laying a pipeline to discharge  effluents to the sea  near Mukka from the MSEZ area at Permude are presently underway, villagers have now taken exception to the      fixing of a gate valve to the  pipeline  near Kullar  drain which is  in a low lying area of Kuttettur.

It is learnt, the reply of the engineers  that the gate valve has been fixed to release water to the drain in times of emergencies, has further worried the villagers who had  let land for the laying of the waste water pipeline.  However, they are strongly opsonised to  any move to  release the wastes to the main storm water drain of Kuttettur village by fixing a gate valve.

The villagers are now planning an agitation and say they would not allow any secret attempt to release waste water  in the storm water drain as it would   affect  fields in Kuttettur, Soorinje, Panja and Pavanje areas.

The villagers also recall the problems which they faced in the past due to the  contamination of the drain with tar mixed wastes from the MRPL and warn that they would allow any such problem to be repeated.
