Moodbidri : An incident wherein the villagers of Padumarnadu picketed the Gram Panchayat office demanding the transfer of the Panchayat Development Officer charging him of dereliction of duty, took place on Friday April 11.
Over 50 women of Gundukallu area gathered outside the office and alleged that the PDO was not functioning in a satisfactory manner. They also accused him of being irregular to office and also not evincing interest in reaching out the government programmes to the target group.
When ZP Deputy Secretary Gopalkrishna Bhat, Mangalore TP Chief Executive Officer Vishwanath Poojari, Panchayat Vice President Satish Karkera and other officials rushed to the spot, the villagers poured out their grievances with them.
Later, the TP Executive Officer assured to look into the complaint following which the protest was withdrawn.
