Bantwal: The school re-opening day at the Keddalike Government School in Bantwal taluk on Saturday May 31 was unique in the sense that it also marked the inaugural of several programmes.
The ‘Maguvigondu Gida-Manegondu Mara’ (A plant to a child, a tree to a house)’ Scheme was launched, children get a rousing welcome,parents honoured and horekanike offered to the school-a temple of knowledge.
The whole event was colourful and the presence of local MLA and DK District Minister B Ramanatha Rai added a special charm to the celebrations.
A grand procession including music, children wearing colourful costumes and shouting slogans was organised to welcome the kids enrolled to class one. The procession was held from near Keddalike Anganavadi centre to the school premises. The newly enrolled kids were garlanded and offered fruits.
The minister distributed saplings to the children and parents and inaugurated the ‘Maguvigondu Gida-Manegondu Mara’ scheme. Range Forest Officer KC Mathew gave a talk on forest conservation. Books were distributed to the students.
The school store room was inaugurated by Block Education officer Sheshashayana Karinja. TP Member B Padmashekhar Jain, Kavalapadur GP Chief Yaqub Saheb, Bala Vikasa Academy Member Maunesh Vishwakarma and others were present.
