Udupi: Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Kaniyur Math expressed his regret for sending a lady (Vanitha N. Shetty) out of the dining hall of Sri Krishna temple.
The lady, an assistant lecturer of School of Allied Health Sciences (SOAHS), Manipal University, was asked to leave the dining hall of the Sri Krishna Temple by a server for being a non-Brahmin, on April 15.
Speaking to the media , the seer said that “all necessary measures have been taken already to avoid further any such incident”. He added that from his side it was already advised- not to discriminate between any devotee.
Further he assured of avoiding any such discrimination in the Bhojanashala. I will see that no one is insulted, the seer said.
“In future such incidents will not occur. I have given directions to all the staff at the dining halls ,”the seer informed.
Kurkal Dinakar Shetty, President of Udupi district unit of Buntara Sangha had earlier condemned the practice of Pankthi Bedha and called it as an uncivilized practice, (separate seating arrangements for Brahmins during lunch) at Temple.
The incident was not only an insult to her but also to all non-Brahmins, he said.
