Mangalore : If the BJP is often boasting of the Gujarat model of development, in reality, the development of Mangalore is far better than the Gujarat model, said Luizinho Faleiro, former chief minister of Goa.
He was speaking after offering floral tributes to the portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanthi celebrated at the Congress Election office in the city on Monday April 14.
Faleiro further said in reality the state of Gujarat was lagging behind in education, health, farming and other sectors and added except industries no other field is flourishing in Gujarat.
Showering praises on DK Congress candidate B Janardhana Poojari, Faleiro described Poojary as a sincere and disciplined politician who had brought banking to the doorsteps of the poor during his tenure as Union Minister. There is a need to make him win to help the district progress further, Faleiro said.
Union Minister Oscar Fernandes who also spoke said infrastructural development like National Highway, airport, ports, railways and other sectors have developed during the Congress regime and said Poojary if elected will further contribute to the progress.
JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, MLAs, Ivan D’Souza, Kallige Taranath Shetty, Congress Spokespersons, Ibrahim Kodijal, District Congress Interim President, Suresh Ballal, AC Bhandari and other Congress leaders were present.
