LS Election 2014 : DK sees 25 percent voting till 11.30 am

Mangalore :Voting in Karnataka for all 28 Lok Sabha seats has begun. In the initial four hours, the voting percentage across the DK district hovered around 25 per cent, officials said, adding, polling had been peaceful so far.

LS elections: Voting begins for all 28 seats in Karnataka

Mangalore : Voting in Karnataka for all 28 Lok Sabha seats has begun at 7am on Thursday April 17. Nearly 4.62 crore people are eligible to exercise their franchise in the single-phase election in the state. Polling will continue till 6 pm.

This Lok Sabha election has become a true battle of prestige for over a dozen leaders from different political parties. As a well known analyst says prestige of these leaders is at stake in this election.

Congress candidate Janardhan Poojary voted at his polling booth in Bantwal. BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel and his wife voted in Ladyhill. MLA J R Lobo and his wife cast their votes at St Theresa’s School, Bendore.

Bishop of Mangalore diocese Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza voted at Ganapathy High School.

Lok Sabha Candidates in DK are

Janardhan Poojary of Congress
Nalin Kumar Kateel of BJP
M R Vasudeva of Aam Aadmi Party
Yadavn Shetty of CPI (M)
Haneef Khan of SDPI
Moosa Kunhi alias Abdul Karim of BSP
Supreeth Kumar Poojary of Hindustan Janata Party
Independent Candidates are Sudatt Jain, Advocate Ananda Gatty, K Kushala Bellare, Deepak Rajesh Coelho, Maxim Pinto, Subrahmanya Gowda and K N Soma Shekar.

For the first time Indian voters can reject all candidates by voting NOTA, ‘None of the Above’.

The counting and results will be on May 16.
