Incessant rains causes havoc in parts of Karnataka

Heavy rains and overflowing of the river as well as sea errosion has created havoc in various regions of Karnataka, while the worst affected are Belgaum , kodugu, Mysore, Raichur and Udupi .

 

Krishna river overflows, creating fear amongst the people

Belgaum :  Heavy rains falls has caused Krishna river to over flow , hence many villages  have been flooded . Nine schools have been closed indefinitely due to floods Atani . While the connecting road at Malavala Village -Ingali village in Chikkodi district  has submerged in  due to heavy rains and over flowing of Krishna river.

“Water levels have already reached the low lying “areas said MLA Ramesh Katti. He also said “Twenty Nine villages are likely to be flooded in Chikoddi district.”
While other parts of the state also experience heavy rain falls.

Schools, Colleges closed due to incessant rains

Mysore: DC Shika has declared holiday in Preyiapatna district.


While in DC Dr. N.V. Prasad declared holiday in Kodugu and Thashildar Shashidar declared holiday in Koppa respectively.

In Raichur two villages are inundated and over forty people are trapped since the water in the Basavasagar dam has been released. Rescue operations are  on.

Heavy rains :Holiday for schools, colleges of Udupi dist

Udupi :  Schools and colleges across Udupi district are closed on July 27, Saturday in view of heavy rains. The Deputy Commissioner Dr MT Reju had declared holiday considering the heavy rains and also the met department prediction of more heavy rains in the next 48 hours.

The heavy rains that have been lashing the district have caused extensive damage in various places. Even the problem of sea erosion has intensified at several places.
In Alevoor, a house belonging to Sharada  Poojari was damaged after a huge tree fell over it. Meanwhile, there are also reports of damage to houses at several places in Padoor, Innanje and other places.

At Siddapur in Kundapur taluk, a huge tree fell on an electric pole and landed on the road disrupting vehicular traffic for several hours. Electricity supply was also affected at several places due to the mishap.

The sea erosion has also intensified at several places including Malpe, Kodi Kanyana, Tenka Yermal, Padukere and Maravanthe. The  sea erosion this year was acute and officials have also  asked fishermen not to venture into the sea considering the adverse weather conditions.
