Mangalore :Christians in the city observed Good Friday with great devotion in memory of the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ here on Friday April 18, 2014. People from Kulshekar and Milagres parish gathered in large numbers to meditate on Christ’s journey to Calvary, where he was crucified.
The Good Friday is traditionally celebrated as a day on which Jesus was crucified. It comes on the Friday immediately preceding Easter Sunday. The Christians honour and memorize the event, passion and suffering through which Jesus went through.
Many Christians spend the day fasting, offer prayers, perform meditation and most often spend the day in repentance.
Mumbai: At Mira road, a day to reflect on the Lord’s Passion and his love for us. To help the faithful reflect on the Lord’s Passion the youth of St. Joseph’s Parish, Mira Road enacted a beautiful and creative Way of the Cross.
Also, it is on Holy Thursday that Jesus had his last supper with his apostles and so it is a day of Eucharist, a day of Priesthood and a day of love because Jesus calls us to do what he has done, to serve others for he had said I have come not to be served but to serve. St. Joseph Parish, Mira Road celebrated the Holy Thursday with great preparation and meaning.
Two masses were celebrated at St. Joseph’s parish, 6.30p.m and 8.30p.m respectively in the open ground. Large number of people participated in the Eucharistic celebration. Rev. Fr. Gregory D’souza broke the Word of God for the faithful.
