Kasargod: A special police squad of Kasargod has arrested a gang of five inter-state dacoits. The arrested include a juvenile from Pandeshwar in Mangalore.
Others arrested are Shibu(41) of Kutyadi, Haneef (40) of Bevinje, Ismail (44) of Kanhangad Avikkere and Junaid (18) of Hosangady.
Police informed that the accused were wanted in over 50 dacoity cases reported from various places right from Kozhikode to Mangalore. During interrogations, they have admitted to be part of 20 dacoity cases, police said.
The accused have targeted temples, jewellery shops, houses, shops and mobile outlets. The police gathered clues about them while investigating the case of burglary of a house at Povval in Adoor police station limits. The police could zero in on the accused by tracking the mobile phone which the thieves had stolen from the house.
One of the arrested Shiju who was arrested earlier in a case was released just three months ago.
The investigation team suspects the involvement of more persons in the dacoities.
