Mangalore: Mohammad Masood, a senior leader  of the Muslim community  and the Muslim Central Committee has urged the state government to hand over the Kabeer killing case to the CBI.

Speaking to reporters  at Hotel Woodlands here on Sunday April 20, he while referring to home minister KJ George’s assurance to hand over the case of Kabeer to the CID said there was a need for a thorough investigation into the case.

He strongly suspected that this was a fake encounter resorted to by the  ANF. He said the Committee would not appeal to anyone but the Chief minister and Home Minister are answerable to the incident.

Also Masood expressed dissatisfaction over the Rs 5 lakh compensation  announced to the family of Kabeer and said a compensation of at least Rs  30 lakh must be provided.

Here it may be recalled here that Kabeer of Jokatte was shot dead by the ANF personnel near Shringeri check post on April 19, Saturday after mistaking him for Naxalites. Kabeer along with others was transporting cattle in a pick-up vehicle.

Leaders Vasudev Boloor, Sayeed Ismail, Haneef Hajee, B Aboobakar, Moideen Monu, Basha Thangal as well as Ahinda and Jamiyyatul Falah leaders were present.
