Mangalore: Congress leader Harikrishna Bantwal has alleged that the BJP has appointed Rukmaya Poojary as its election office president just to appease the Billawa community in view of the upcoming elections.
Addressing a press persons at the DK Congress office on Thursday, April 10, he further alleged that Rukmaya Poojary will remain as mere Kalladka Poojary after the elections and not as a BJP leader.
“Rukmaya Poojary was not seen anywhere in BJP circles prior to election announcement. But now that he is appointed as Chairman of BJP election office, he is seen in public often. “Why did Rukmaya Poojary who now says that the BJP has contributed significantly to Billawas, once quit the party?” questioned Harikrishna Bantwal.
“It is being projected in social networking sites that Shree Narayana Guru and Modi are equals. If this has been the case anywhere else, people would have been up in arms. But we have maintained our calm and strongly oppose any caste politics,” he said.
Congress spokesperson Kallige Taranath Shetty, Congress leaders Sanjeeva Poojari, TK Sudhir and others were present.
