Bangalore : Leaders of various political parties are reeling under tension even as speculations are rife over the election results which will be out on May 16.
The Lok Sabha elections this time has been a battle of prestige for several parties owing to various reasons. If the Congress wants to retain the power, the BJP is keen to rise to power. Then, the JD(S) hopes to be the decisive factor, even if it meant a few seats.
Interestingly, close on the heels of Lok Sabha elections, there has been debate over the results and its consequences on state politics. Many are of the belief that the election results would affect the Congress government in the state.
The Congress leaders here are optimistic of winning at least 20 seats. But leave apart the number of seats, many wonder if the Congress candidates would emerge victorious in Mysore-Kodagu constituency, the home town of Siddaramaiah, Chamrajnagar and in Mandya. If the Congress fails to make it in these constituencies, then the chief minister will have to pay a price for it.
The elections are also a litmus test for BJP leaders. The results will reveal if the voter has decided to once again repose faith in the BJP which earlier lost in Karnataka, thanks to corruption cases.
On the other hand, former CM HD Kumaraswamy has said his party JD(S) will win eight to 12 seats.
Whatever may be the speculations and predictions, ultimately the parties will have to bow before the mandate of the common man.
