Mining scam: Lokayukta report points fingers towards IAS officials

Bangalore:  The Lokayukta report has revealed that several IAS officials who served the Department of Mines and Geology were involved in the illegal mining  activities  that had created uproar across the state.

Lokayukta Justice Y  Bhasker Rao has recommended the state government to initiate action  against the illegal mining in reserve forest  area with due collusion of the Director of the Department of Mines and Geology.

The Lokayukta in its report has said that all IAS officials who served as directors in the department between 1986 and 2010 had abetted the Kumaraswamy Mineral Exports Company which was resorting to illegal mining.

Earlier,  Bellary resident S Mohammad Tanveer had filed a complaint with the Lokayukta in May 2010 alleging that the  company  was mining unauthorisedly in reserve forest area.

The Lokayukta report which has been submitted to the government has recommended action against the guilty within three months.
