Bangalore : Karnataka State Transport and Road Safety Commissioner has said that April 30 is the last date for buses to be equipped with emergency exit doors. He has also informed that it has been decided to suspend the services of those government and private buses without the facility from May one onwards.
The Transport Department had earlier set a week long deadline for the buses to be fitted with emergency exit doors. The commissioner has also warned that stern action like cancellation of permits would be taken against those bus owners who flout the rules.
The new rule has been laid down in the best interests of passengers in times of mishaps like the recent Volvo bus tragedies.
