Mysuru: Here is an opportunity for talented sportspersons across the district! The Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports will be conducing district level selection trials in various sporting events at different Taluks of Mysuru district to pick budding sportspersons at junior and senior levels for its hostels, from January 13 to 18.
Many sportspersons in state who went on to achieve in various sports including representing the country are from various sports hostels run by the department. For the coming academic year, the department is selecting promising candidates in various sporting events through these trials.
On January 13, it will be conducting selection trials for athletics for both boys and girls at Government High School premises in T Narasipur (behind BEO office) and Nanjangud Taluk Government High School ground. On January 16 and 17, the trials will be held for hockey for both the genders at K R Nagar Taluk Sports Ground and Chamundi Vihar Hockey turf ground. On January 17 and 18, the candidates have to display their prowess in basketball at H D Kote Taluk Sports ground and Periyapatna Government PU College premises. On January 18, selection for volleyball will be held at Hunsur Government PU College premises. On January 20 and 21 football players will be selected at Chamundi Vihar Stadium at 9 am.
Those who are born on or after June 1, 2003 and getting admitted to eighth standard are eligible to take part in the junior sports hostel selection while for senior sports hostel, those born on or after June 1, 1999 and joining I PUC can take the trials. For details contact Ph: 0821-2564179.
