Mala (29), a resident of Ashokapuram, befriended wealthy men over phone and extorted money from them after they fell into her web. After gaining their confidence, she used to drag them to secluded locations to extort money.
She resorted to blackmailing tactics in cases where she failed to get money instantly. Few days ago, Nanjangud Rural Police had succeeded in bringing five gangsters to book, who robbed vehicle owners of their cash and valuables on the highway by employing women as honey traps. Based on the leads provided by them, they formed a special team to nab Mala. She finally fell into the police net on August 28 and was remanded to judicial custody.
