Mysuru: “Right from the beginning, we are against setting up of Cauvery River Monitoring Committee and we continue to stand by it,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Reacting to the Supreme Court decision on Cauvery dispute, Siddaramaiah after arriving at Mysuru from Kolar, told media persons at Mysuru Airport here on September 20, said, “They might have asked questions and our lawyers will give answers to that. I don’t know much about the development as I am coming straight from Kolar. I will speak to our lawyer and then only can react but one thing is very clear. We stick to our stand that we are against the formation of committee.”
Tribunal orders 190 TMC water to be given
“This year, due to lack of rain, apart from Kabini which is nearing its maximum capacity, most of the other dams are yet to get water to their full capacity. The storage capacity of Kabini is just 19 TMC while the KRS which is our biggest dam with 49 TMC capacity is yet to be full, though its maximum capacity is 124 ft. As on Wednesday, it was just 102 ft. Apart from this, the situation is almost same in other dams including Hemavathi which has 37 TMC capacity and Harangi with 8 TMC capacity. Due to lack of water, we couldn’t even release water based on distress formula to Tamil Nadu”, explained Siddaramaiah.
‘I will be the CM for next five Dasaras’
When media persons said that for the past five years Siddaramaiah had successfully taken part in Dasara celebrations, he said, “Not only now but for the coming five years also I will take part in the inaugural function of Dasara festival as a chief minister.”
‘More FIRs up Yeddy’s sleeve’
“Yeddyurappa himself is having many cases not only in the high court but also in the Supreme Court. Few more FIRs are expected to be filed against him”, Siddaramaiah ridiculed. Reacting to Yeddyurappa’s threat that he was going to produce documents related to corruption of Congress ministers and officials on September 23, the CM said, “Yeddyurappa is not new to me. I am seeing him for the past many years. He is a liar and most of the time his allegations are far from true. If at all he is having any document to prove any allegation let him produce it. He himself is having 16 cases in Supreme Court, two cases in high court and there are possibilities of few more FIRs against him. Let him first escape from these clutches. He keeps on coming out with irrelevant allegation and not even one he has proved. I don’t care about those who scare me. My government is clean and there is no allegation or scam in my government.
‘Rumours about Assembly ticket distribution’
“It’s all rumours that Congress high command is not going to give tickets to kith and kin of senior party leaders. We have not received any communication in this regard. It’s all far from true”, said Siddaramaiah. Reacting to former minister Ashok’s allegation that the phones of 60 BJP MLAs were being tapped he said, “It’s all baseless and the government is not involved in any phone tapping. If he has any evidence to prove his allegation, let him submit. For false allegations, we can’t keep probing”, asserted Siddaramaiah.
‘I have given six cases to CBI’
“When Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar and Yeddyurappa were chief ministers when we had sought for CBI probe, they said that CBI is a Chor Bachav Samastha. Now after Narendra Modi became the prime minister they want everything to be probed by CBI. Anyhow, I still have given six cases to CBI”, added Siddaramaiah.
‘Those who don’t have constituency, will search’
“In the coming Assembly election, I am interested in contesting from Chamundeshwari Constituency. Yeddyurappa, who earlier contested from Shikaripura Constituency, is now being replaced by his son. Now he is not having constituency and hence he needs to search for one. It’s not the same with me. I am keen on contesting from Chamundeshwari Constituency”, added Siddaramaiah.
