Mysuru: The Somanahalli villagers succeeded in rescuing stolen cattle from thieves after chasing a vehicle in the wee hours of morning on January 21. However, one cow died when the vehicle went off the road.
Some villagers noticed a speeding canter vehicle ferrying four cows and two calves from Somanahalli village of Hunsur taluk at 4 am in the morning. They intercepted the vehicle at Arakere Cross in K R Nagar taluk.
When the driver sensed trouble, he lost control and soon the vehicle went off the road. Both the driver and the cleaner escaped using the cover of darkness. However, one cow died of injuries after it fell off the truck.
K R Nagar police arrived at the spot and seized the vehicle. They are now trying to trace the thieves involved in ferrying cattle.
