Mysuru: To commemorate centenary celebration of the University of Mysore, a commemorative coin of Rs100 and a circulation coin of Rs5 will be released by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on December 23 at the Crawford Hall.
With this, the University of Mysore will be the second University in the country to have released commemorative coins, after Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
The commemorative coins are all set to be released with permission from University Grants Commission and Union Finance Ministry.
Based on request finance ministry approved the same. The finance ministry had asked the university to send the design and logo to be minted on coins. Later after discussion, the coins are designed on lines of the motto of the University. On the occasion ‘Centenary Coffee Table Book’ reflecting 100 years of journey of University will also be released.
