Mysuru: Veteran Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Pracharak M C. Jayadev was buried as per Veerashaiva tradition in the cemetery at Vidayaranyapuram in Mysuru on February 21.Credited with strengthening the RSS in Bengaluru and other parts of the State, Jayadev had become its face for a long time. He had been suffering from health problems for the last few months and was admitted to a private hospital where he breathed his last on February 20.
His body was kept at the RSS State headquarters, Keshava Krupa, on February 20 to enable his followers to pay their last respects.
Jayadev became a member of the RSS during his college days and headed its Bengaluru city unit in 1960. He headed the Karnataka and undivided Andhra Pradesh units of RSS in 2004 and also became the national executive member of the organisation in 2009.
A bachelor, he was one of the founders of Rashtrotthana Parishat, a service organisation of the Sangh Parivar.
Prominent among his followers, state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa was seen consoling his family members.
BJP MPs Pratap Simha, Shobha Karandlaje, Suttur Seer Shri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, M K Somashekar, Chikkanna, C H Vijayashankar, C Ramesh, Thontadarya, Go. Madhusudan were among those who paid their last respects to the 85-year-old deceased RSS Pracharak.
