Mysuru: The Mysore District Badminton Association, under the aegis of Karnataka Badminton Association will be conducting six-day state ranking badminton tournament at Manasagangotri indoor stadium from April 29 to May 4. International players including national top seed Ashwini Bhat will also be seen in action during the six-day event.
More than 600 players, both boys and girls from across the state will be competing in different age categories, including U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-19 in both singles and doubles events. Apart from Ashwini Bhat, some of the other top ranked players who will be seen in action in U-17 and U-19 include Dhruthi Yathish, Trisha Hegde, Thejas Kallokar, Nikhil Shyam Sriram, Deepti Ramesh, Kruthi Bharadwaj, Meda Shashidaran and Ananny Praveen.
SG Prabhu, organising secretary of the event said “For smooth conduct of the competition we have arranged four courts. Many top ranked players are expected to take part in all the four age categories. The total prize money for the competition is Rs 2 lakh.
The event will be inaugurated by MP Pratap Simha on April 29 at Manasagangotri indoor stadium at 9.30am. Deputy Commissioner D Randeep and MUDA Chairman Dhruvakumar will also be present.
The valedictory and prize distribution function will be held on May 4 at 4.30pm. Just a year back Mysuru District Badminton Association had conducted state level ranking tournament.
