Nanjangud: Rebel Congress leader and former minister Srinivas Prasad’s convention in Nanjangudu evoked overwhelming response on Tuesday.
Srinivas Prasad was unceremoniously sacked out of the cabinet by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the recent cabinet reshuffle and this move turned long time friends-Siddaraiamah and Srinivas Prasad into foes, thereby also affecting the state political dynamics. With Nanjangudu running into a by-polls soon and with the Congress having held a massive power show recently, Srinivas Prasad too held a convention at Vidhyavardhak Grounds here and attacked the CM over different issues.
“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is like Tughlaq, he has no idea about developmental governance. I have been in politics since the era of Ramakrishna Hegade and Devaraj Urs. Having seen them work closely, I can say that Siddaramaiah has no idea of development politics,” he said adding that it was Siddaramaiah who knocked at his doorstep for help when he contested from Varuna constituency.
Ramaswamy, younger brother of Prasad, submitted his resignation to Congress membership and later took part in the convention. K R Mohan Kumar, former Chairman of MUDA, Nanjangud city council president, Pushpalatha Kamalesh, former city council president Meenakshi Ram, ZP member Subbanna and Taluk Panchayat president Mahadevappa were also present at the convention.
