Mysuru: The much awaited Mysuru shopping festival brought some relief to the cultural city troubled by the recent Cauvery violence, as number of renowned film actresses made a beeline, shopping vegetables. This was to mark the beginning of the 6-week long festival.
Glamorous actresses stylishly dressed and dunked in facial makeup were able to draw huge fans as they went around with their shopping bags buying green vegetables from different counters. Shruthi and Shwetha Srivatsav were the first ones among those seen at the first dawn of the 43-day long festival. They happily posed for photographs and were thrilled by the shopping experience.
Organisers said that the festival is organised to convey the message that shopping is not restricted to malls alone; and that they want to take this experience to the streets to support farmers and street vendors.
However, one of the street vendors, Kempamma, had a different take on this as she turned herself into a critic for that moment. She blatantly termed it as a publicity stunt and did not foresee any extra returns during the 43-day long festival on account of the visit of these actresses.
