Mysuru: Scion of the centuries old Wadiyar dynasty, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar’s wedding with Trishikha Kumari, a Rajasthani princess took place at the Silver mantapa of the palace on Monday, June 27.

The 24-year-old Yaduveer married Trishika, second daughter of Maharaja Kumar Harshvardhan Singh and Rajkumari Maheshree Kumari of the Dungarpur royal family of Rajasthan during Karkataka lagna at Kalyan Mantap. The muhurtham was scheduled between 9.05am and 9.35am. Though the rituals started after 9.05am, he tied knot at 10.15am.

As many as 14 rituals in separate venues were held inside the palace, including Ganapathi pooja, Chamundeswari pooja, Punyaha, Ashtanga, Devara sambavane, Matada sambavane, Naandi aavaahane, Naandi pooja, Aachaaryavarna and Dheekshavarthana sweekaara. Yaduveer also did Samaavarthane, which is a pre-requisite to enter grusthashrama.

The marriage rituals began on June 24 evening itself. The rituals included Yaduveer performing pada pooja to Brahhantantra Parakala mutt seer.

Prominent among those who attended Muhurtham included former Minister and senior congress leader Rani Satish and Brijesh Patel, Secretary, KSCA. Nearly 500 members, most of them relatives from both the family attended the Muhurtham. The police had a tough time in controlling the crowd. Many went disappointed as they couldn’t make it to the Muhurtham. Later in the evening, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa will be visting the palace.

It can be recalled that after the untimely demise of Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, the last descendant of the dynasty on December 10, 2013 Yaduveer was formally adopted by Pramoda Devi Wadiyar last year in the month of February. After adoption, Yaduveer who was earlier called as Yaduveer Gopal Raj Urs was renamed as Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and was crowned the 27th scion of Wadiyar dynasty. Yaduveer completed his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and English from Boston University in US. He is the grandson of Princess Gayatri Devi, the eldest daughter of the last Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar.

The wedding reception will be held at Mysuru and Bengaluru on June 28 and July 2 respectively where more than 2000 people including the Central and State ministers are expected to attend.

Attractive Kalayan Mantap: The kalyan mantap was well decorated with flowers especially rose and jasmine. The flower decoration to mantap was almost similar to the marriages in 1976 which took at the palace. More than 1000 roses were used. A flower decorator from Bengaluru is looking after the royal family’s flower related decorations from the past three years.
