Mysuru: The State Government appointed Shivamogga SP Ravi D. Channannavar as the new SP of Mysuru, while incumbent Mysuru SP Abhinav Khare has been transferred as Shivamogga SP.
Abhinav Khare took charge as Mysuru SP on June 24, 2013. Ravi D. Channannavar, who hails from Gadag district, had his early education at Mulagunda Government School. Having born in a poor family, he completed his studies working at a hotel. He belongs to 2008 IPS batch.
Ravi, had earlier served as the SP at Dharwad and Hassan. In his earlier position as additional Superintendent of Police, Belgaum, during communal clash, he had earned a good name for his Bollywood style of functioning, where he entered the houses of the trouble-makers and nabbed them. Due to his style of functioning he is also called ‘Singham’. He is likely to take charge as Mysuru SP in a couple of days.
