Mysuru: Pulse Polio drops will be administered to children below the age of five during the Pulse Polio mass immunization drive across the district on January 19. The drive will cover more than 2.38 lakh children in the district.
The district administration, along with health department, is making elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Pulse Polio drive. Dr L Ravi, DRCH said, “1657 vaccination centres will be opened in the district. There are also 32 transit centres which have been set up at tourist places which include the palace, zoo, Chamundi Hills, bus stand, railway station and other prominent places across the district. The authorities have drafted 6628 people for the drive. The Pulse Polio centres will be opened from 8 AM to 5 PM. The drive will be followed with house visits on January 20 and 21 to cover children who miss the polio drops.”
Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Sankar also held a meeting in this regard and called upon the authorities not to miss a single child.
The government has been conducting the polio immunization since 1995.
