Mysuru: The names of popular singers including the Bollywood ones are missing in the Yuva Dasara performers’ list. This year Yuva dasara will be held at Maharaja Ground from September 22 to 29.
J Somashekhar, Secretary of the Sub-committee said, “Singers like Neeti Mohan, Palak Mucchal and Nakash Aziz are crowd pullers. The events like Gandada Gudi, Star Night and concerts from Arjun Janya, Coke Studio and Red Bull Tour Bus are completely sponsored events. Instead of spending hefty amount on popular singers, we want to give platform to local talents.”
According to official sources, the amount allocated to Yuva Dasara which was Rs 2 Crore during last year has been cut down to Rs 1.5 Crore. Some of the popular playback singers who have enthralled the crowd in previous editions of Yuva Dasara are Shaan, Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Khailesh Kher, Shreya Ghoshal, Mika Singh, Sukwinder Singh, Hariharan, Vishal-Shekhar and Shankar Mahadevan. Like every year, this year too it will be held at Maharaja College Grounds. The best college teams from Yuva Sambhrama will be given opportunities to perform at Yuva Dasara prior to the main concert.
