‘Parents should not get disappointed if their children fail to achieve in sports’

Mysuru: “Parents should not get disappointed if their children failed to achieve in sports. Sports help an individual in overall development enabling them to have good health and lead a respectable life in the society”, said P Krishnaiah, Director, Department of Physical Education, University of Mysore.

Speaking during the valedictory function of Teresian Cricket Academy for the year 2016-17 at Teresian College Ave Maria Golden Jubilee Auditorium on Wednesday, he appreciated Teresian Cricket Academy for coming out with good results in just a span of four years. He said “The academy is the first of its kind in Mysuru helping the budding cricketers especially those in the surrounding areas of Siddarthanagar. After admitting their children to the academy or any club they should not expect immediate results. If the results come immediately they may not sustain for long. Only after thorough practice one can master the skills and can be successful sports persons in their respective sporting events. Even though it may take time to achieve they will be successful in their endeavours.” He also called upon the parents to give equal importance to both sports and education. As part of the event, cultural programmes were also organised. On the occasion, Rev Sr. Sajitha, Director, Teresian Institution, Chairman of Teresian Cricket Academy Anthony Moses, Physical Education Director, Teresian College and Director of the Teresian Cricket Academy handed over a memorandum to S Balachandar, Convener, KSCA, Mysuru Zone to give recognition to the club.

Promising players including Abinoam G Jacob, R Nayan, Yadhunandan, S Bhuvan, Likith S Gowda, H N Pavan, Mohammed Kaif, M Umesh and Mohammed Fawaz from the academy who represented Mysuru zone/district, state and national levels and Vijay Krishnan T, Hockey Coach, Sports Authority Karnataka, DYSS was also felicitated on the occasion. Earlier the event was inaugurated by Rev Fr. Jomi C.J, Principal, St. Joseph Central School, Vijayanagar. V K Jose, Principal, Teresian College and Mansoor Ahmed, Cricket Coach, University of Mysore and Technical Official of the Teresian Cricket Academy were also present.
