Dharwad: Noted critic Giraddi Govindraj was felicitated by his friends and admirers here at a function which also marked the release of his book and analysis of his works.
Speaking after receiving the felicitation, Giraddi Govindraj expressed concern over increasing extremist tendencies among the writers subscribing to Leftist and Rightist ideologies.
“Literature will flourish only when there is a healthy discussion between the people of different ideologies. An atmosphere where mutual interaction between the people subscribing to different ideologies should be made possible and the objective of Sahitya Sambhrama being held at Dharwad was just to create such an atmosphere,” he said.
“But the leftists have termed Sahitya Sambhrama as an attempt to strengthen the rightist ideology, which is not true”, he clarified while asking others who are keeping quiet by not subscribing to either ideologies to speak their mind.

Prof Giraddi’s book on criticism “Vilambita” and his biography written by writer Mallikarjun Hiremath were released by Prof T P Ashok in the next session presided over by writer Gurulinga Kapse.
Octogenarian writer Gurulinga Kapse also spoke.
