Mysuru: As part of elaborate security arrangements for the by-elections to Nanjangudu and Gundlupet Assembly constituencies, not only private vehicles are being checked but also all government vehicles including that of Deputy Commissioner D Randeep vehicle were screened at the check posts.
D Randeep, while on his way to election duty in Nanjangud, spotted a police check post at Nanjangud on Tuesday and took the police by surprise by asking them to check his vehicle like any other. The DC has issued directives to subject all the government vehicles to scanning on par with the private ones at the checkposts set up across the constituency. This step is apparently to thwart the criticism that the government was misusing the official machinery.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Deputy Commissioner D Randeep said, “I have instructed the police to scan all the vehicles including government vehicles at the check post, and also my own. Even election related officials’ vehicles are not being spared. The only intention is to curb any kind of illegal activity.”
