Mysuru: As the Nanjangudu by-polls is catching up, the officials of the district too have plunged into action to ensure a free and fair elections. Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police and Election Officer have visited various checkposts across the region and have seized 68 silver gift articles, cash close to Rs one lakh and good number of live chickens as well, all of which were meant to be distributed among voters.
It is said that when SP Ravi D Chennannavar examined the bike of a youth at Katvadi checkpost, the youth was found possessing 68 silver articles said to be kept ready to gift voters. Meanwhile, about one lakh rupees was found in an Innova car at Kaulande checkpost and 50 chicken were found stashed in a Tavera car.
The police are keeping close tabs on bars and liquor shops as well and on Monday cases were filed against five bars.
Deputy Commissioner Randeep has said that all measures are in place for the smooth conduct of the by polls.
