Mysuru Royal Wedding: Preparations in full swing

Mysuru: The reception of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, titular head of Mysuru Royal Family who will be tying the knot with Trishika, a Rajasthani princess will not only be held at Mysuru Palace on June 28 but also at Bengaluru Palace on July 2 said Pramoda Devi.

Addressing media persons at the Mysuru Palace she said, “The preparation for the marriage is in full swing. The marriage rituals which were performed during our marriage will be almost the same to Yaduveer. The pre marriage rituals will begin from the evening of June 24 and will go on till June 29. There will be a procession of the married couple for public view in the palace premise. Though all pre marriage rituals starts from June 25, the beginning of the grand wedding will begin on the evening of June 24 itself. On June 25, the day will begin with Oil bath (Enne Snana) which is considered auspicious during rituals and paada pooja to guru. ‘Chappara’ programme will also be held. There will be a private function on June 26”.

“The main function that is muhurtham will be held at Kalyana Mantap on June 27 between 9.05am and 9.35am; the rituals will start from 4 am in the morning and continue till evening while reception will be held at the Durbar Hall on June 28 between 7.30pm to 8.30pm. More than 2000 people not only from across the country but also from foreign countries including consulates from German, France, America and Switzerland have been invited. I have also invited President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Opposition leader Sonia Gandhi and other Union and State ministers for the marriage. I have sent a personnel letter along with the invitation. I met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah personally at his office in Vidhana Soudha and invited him for the marriage” added Pramoda Devi.

Over 2000 people are expected to attend the marriage especially muhurtham and the reception. Nearly 1500 to 2000 guests are expected for the reception at Bengaluru which will be held on July 2.

She also reminded the fact that after her marriage at Mysuru Palace in 1976, the marriages of her two sisters-in-law, Indrakshi and Vishalakshi was held on 1978 and 1980 respectively.

The palace will be closed for public from June 24 to 29

As part of the marriage rituals including reception, Pramoda Devi approached the government for restriction of public from June 24 to 29. Chief Secretary of the state, who heads the board, approved the same.

Menu for the marriage

“Though we are yet to finalize the menu, one thing is for sure that it will be South Indian food. There will be varieties of dishes each day. As people are weight conscious we have limited sweets. Yaduveer is fond of Jahangir, so it will also be part of the menu. Angaraka the traditional suit of Mysore Royal family will be the dress for the muhurtham,” said Pramoda Devi.
