Mysuru: Festivities in the Amba Vilas Palace are far from over as the Mysuru royal family prepares to welcome its heir shortly. A baby shower celebration for Trishika Kumari Devi, wife of Royal Scion Yaduveer was held at the palace on Wednesday.

Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, adopted son of Maharani Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of late Srikantadatta Narsimharaja Wadiyar had tied the knot with Trishika Kumar from Dungerpur Royal family in June 2016. What is notable is that the Mysuru royal family is welcoming an heir after nearly six decades.

The news of Trishika’s pregnancy was a reason to rejoice for the Wadiyars. It was a longheld belief that the Mysuru Royal family is plagued by a curse from Alamelamma, wife of a local chieftain, that the Wadiyars would never have children.

The Wadiyars had avoided all media glare post news of Trishika’s pregnancy emerged and the celebration too was a close-knit family affair. However photos of the celebration have emerged two days after the ceremony.

Trishika was showered with gold Veena, boots, cradle and a basket among others – all in gold and antique ancestral jewelery was gifted to Trishika.

The Palace had earlier witnessed such celebrations in 1961 when Maharani Tripura Sundari Ammanni was pregnant and 1890s at time of queen Vani Vilas Sannidhana.
